Peppermint Blast

  • 32 ounces of water
  • 8 drops of peppermint essential oil
  • 8 drops of lemon essential oil
  • 4 drops of tea tree essential oil

Directions

  1. Add water to a spray bottle
  2. Add all the essential oils
  3. Shake well before each use

I’ve used this spray along with variations for years it’s a simple but non toxic way to keep your little visitors at bay. I spray it on my kitchen countertops, bathroom, carpets, anyplace where I want to deter insects or aid a “crisp” smell to the air.

I was cleaning my dishes yesterday I noticed that I had a few visitors patrolling the countertop (ants) I quickly made the remedy above to keep my little buddies at bay. Peppermint oil is a natural repellent, and most bugs don’t like the stuff.

Air Freshener

It also keeps the air smelling “fresh”. It’s a much healthier choice than many of the chemical laden sprays that you find on the market. I have six pets, two dogs, and four ferrets, people are constantly surprised that my house doesn’t smell like animals.

Frankincense Tears

Natural Repellents
Did you know that the essential oils lavender, lemon balm, peppermint, cedar oil, eucalyptus is natural insect repellents. The most effective I’ve used are clove oil and citronella; however, I don’t use them on my skin. They can be skin irritants. I do use them in natural bug repellent sprays. I use it around places where I want to keep bugs out.

Caution

A Word Of Caution
Despite, how “safe” an essential oil is I always perform a patch test with the blends I make to see if the cause a reaction they rarely do. Occasionally I’ll apply an essential oil neatly (directly to my skin) but those instances are rare. I have applied the essential oils lavender (severe burn) and tea tree oil (cut) I was washing my crystal classes when one broke and cut me deeply. I still have a tiny scar on my right hand; however, the combination of lavender and tea tree oil healed the wound quickly.

Tea Tree

Tea Tree

Excellent First Aid
Tea tree is antibacterial and a natural antiseptic. In fact, you will find that many of your essential oils also contain antiseptic qualities. Lavender oil is used effectively on minor burns it’s calming and helps heal it quickly. Over the past fifteen years I’ve read hundred of books about the healing powers of essential oils, and have taken numerous classes. I have a cabinet stocked with numerous essential oils.

Aroma StoneDiffusers & Natural Sprays
In fact, I make an air freshener specifically for my daughter. I apply the oil to an aroma stone and mix with a carrier oil. This gently heats up the oil and I’ll massage the oil into her skin.

Aiyana loves this bedtime ritual. I also spray her room and bedsheets at bedtime with a soothing blend. It puts her to sleep quickly, and now she has associated that smell with bedtime. Occasionally I’ll forget and she’ll ask for the ‘Aiyana Spray’ or ‘Goodnight Spray’.

Next Post: Recipe for the Aiyana’s “Good Night Spray.”

Raw For 30 Days

July 13, 2007 | 3 Comments

Is it possible to heal yourself naturally from Type II Diabetes. A documentary Raw For 30 Days shows that this can be a possibility. I first saw this documentary last year and it impressed me so much that I posted it on one of my other websites. I converted to mainly all raw food diet last April. I didn’t do it for health reasons I did it because I enjoyed they way I felt.

My aunt and her adult daughters (three total) all have Type II diabetes. She’s curious and is wanting to up her intake of raw foods.
