In the last article, we talked about Natural Remedies For Pregnancy in this article we’ll look at a few things that can cause stretch marks and and I’ll share a recipe that kept my skin soft and supple. I didn’t have any stretch marks.

How Are Stretch Marks Caused?
When rapid changes occur in your weight by dieting, weight gain, or pregnancy you can develop stretch marks. I read a lot about stretch marks in the early stages of pregnancy. A lot of what I read stated that not too much you can do about them during pregnancy since a lot of it depends on hormones. In time stretch marks will get lighter.

Possible Ways To Avoid Stretch Marks

  1. Control your weight
  2. Keep your skin supple and firm by using moisturizers
  3. Make healthy food choices studies have shown that receiving vitamins and minerals in your diet will help maintain the connective tissue.

When I was pregnant I created a Nourishing Body Balm. I had used the butters and oils for years in a variety of different blends that I had made for myself and for my customers. I thought they would be fabulous in my pregnancy body balm. It’s a lovely aromatherapy blend. I added lavender Read more

Healing Yourself Naturally’s Skin Toner

Healing Yourself Naturally’s Homemade Facial Toner

2 cups of distilled water
1 cups of witch hazel
4 drops of Geranium essential oil
3 drops of tea tree essential oil
2 drops of rosewood essential oil

Directions
Store in a glass or aluminum bottle.

How To Use

  • Shake well before each use. The reason why you have to shake it is because the essential oils will float to the top during storage.
  • Dab affected areas with cotton wool two or three times a day. (Another alternative is to put your facial toner in a spray bottle. You would then shake and spritz your face. That’s my method)

The witch hazel and the essential oils will aid in cleaning your skin and help unclog your pores. They also help by giving and antibiotic protection to your skin.

This is another holistic remedy that can be used to clean your skin. The natural ingredients used are simple but extremely helpful ways to keep your skin naturally beautiful. Enjoy!

What Causes Acne?

It seems that more people are looking towards alternative medicine for natural remedies and healthy solutions to help eliminate acne.

How Does Acne Occur?
The main cause of acne is the overproduction of an oily substance called sebum. Sebum serves an important role it keeps our skin and hair lubricated and supple. The problem arises when sebum teams up with naturally occurring dead skin cells. They block hair follicles from escaping.
Acne: What Lies Beneath
The sebaceous glands start to swell and extra sebum is produced. This gets the ball rolling in the wrong direction and causes a bacterial overgrowth. Since the sebum cannot escape this is an ideal Read more

In my last two articles you learned about nail fungus and you also learned how to make a holistic anti-fungal foot bath. I’ve included another natural remedy that you might want to consider adding to your arsenal.

It’s anti-fungal and it also helps eliminate foot odor. My father is a foot duster. Yes it’s true. He likes powdering his feet. I knew my dad suffered from the occasional foot itch and nail fungus so I started making this recipe for him several years ago.

My dad was skeptical about holistic remedies he really didn’t think it would work. I think he mainly used it to please me. My dad requested more after the first batch ran out. I was pleased since I knew it was working.

Although he doesn’t suffer Read more

Bugs Be Gone Essential Oil Insect Spray

  • 16 ounces of water
  • 6 drops of lavender oil
  • 4 drops of peppermint oil
  • 4 drops of lemon oil

*Shake well before each use. Spray. Enjoy!

Do you know I use a similar aromatherapy spray when I’m outside? I also sell a similar version with my holistic company. It never fails when I go outside the tiny little bugaboos are not too far behind eagerly sampling my tender skin, lol.

In order to make myself less appealing to them I make this simple holistic remedy. If I’m going to be out in the sun for a long time I’ll make sure the carrier I use is oil based. I’ve found that perspiring can wash away the spray also.

It has a pleasant smell and keeps the little bugaboos at bay. As a precautionary measure do a patch test! First Read more
