Body Scrub

In this series I have done things a little differently in that I gave you the recipes first instead of the introduction.  In the next article that I will publish on the subject I’ll will write about what skin exfoliation is and the benefits of including it into your skin care regimen.

Healing Yourself Naturally’s Stimulating Sugar Scrub

  • 3/4 cup raw turbinado sugar (you could use brown sugar)
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 2 drops of peppermint essential oil

Directions

  1. Add sugar into a mixing bowl
  2. Gradually add the coconut oil until you reach your desired texture
  3. Add peppermint essential oil
  4. Stir thoroughly

If your skin is sunburned or irritated do not exfoliate your skin! When you apply the scrub to your skin avoid cuts or sensitive areas.

Application

  1. Massage gently onto skin (I use my hands but you can use a shower glove or loofah)
  2. Let sit on skin for 3-5 minutes
  3. Rinse
  4. Enjoy your baby soft skin

Items Needed That You Might Not Have At Home

  • 1 glass or plastic jar
  • Raw Coconut Oil
  • Organic Sucanet Sugar or brown sugar
  • Peppermint essential oil

Although the ingredients within the scrub have numerous benefits I’ll focus on what I used them for.

Peppermint essential oil

  • Stimulating
  • Improves mental
  • Natural laxative

Raw Coconut Oil

  • Rejuvenates skin
  • Aids in wrinkle prevention

Turbinado Sugar

  • Aids in removing dead skin

If you’re new to any of the ingredients that I’ve listed above. Always do a patch test! Although the ingredients are natural you can still receive a reaction to natural products.

How did I use the Scrub?

This past weekend as I was getting ready to head to the gym I decided that I wanted to use an all over aromatherapy body scrub as a treat after my workout. My workouts consist of 45-60 minutes intense physical activity whether it’s cardio or free weights. I don’t take a break I end my workout by relaxing in the dry sauna for the same amount of time.

After rinsing myself off I noticed that the coconut oil did not absorb as quickly into my skin as the sweet almond oil. I gave myself a quick all over body massage and that solved the problem. The bottom line the silky feeling was still there. Adding the peppermint oil made my body come alive.

I hope you enjoy this recipe it’s just another way you can pamper yourself naturally. Enjoy!
