In my last two articles you learned about nail fungus and you also learned how to make a holistic anti-fungal foot bath. I’ve included another natural remedy that you might want to consider adding to your arsenal.

It’s anti-fungal and it also helps eliminate foot odor. My father is a foot duster. Yes it’s true. He likes powdering his feet. I knew my dad suffered from the occasional foot itch and nail fungus so I started making this recipe for him several years ago.

My dad was skeptical about holistic remedies he really didn’t think it would work. I think he mainly used it to please me. My dad requested more after the first batch ran out. I was pleased since I knew it was working.

Although he doesn’t suffer from the foot itch or nail fungus anymore he still uses this foot powder. It’s a simple but extremely effective holistic approach that will help eliminate foot itch or the dreaded nail fungus. Another added bonus is that it keeps your feet smelling wonderful. This is a blessing for those who suffer from foot odor.

Healing Yourself Naturally’s Anti-Fungal Foot Powder

3/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup corn starch
7 drops peppermint essential oil
4 drops of lavender essential oil
3 drops of tea tree essential oil

Directions
1 Add essential oils to the powder and mix thoroughly
2. Store in a glass jar or shaker container. If you don’t have one you could use an old talcum powder container.
3. Dust on bare feet
4. Put on socks and shoes as normal

You can double or triple the ingredients if you like the shelf life, for these ingredients are extremely high. I have some dry remedies, like this, that have lasted for several years. How do I store my ingredients. I buy canning jars. Where I live in Maryland purchase 24 ball mason glass jars for under $8. I use these to store my bulk herbs, natural toothpaste cleansers, and natural beauty masks.

Another benefit that my father noticed was that his feet stopped sweating and that the peppermint essential oil helped wake up his feet. If you suffer from toenail fungus this would be another holistic approach that can be used to assist in eliminating it.

The essential oils peppermint, lavender, and tea tree have numerous benefits a few of their benefits are; antifungal, natural antiseptic, speeds up healing, natural air fresheners.

After spending years in a gym setting, i developed a common form of athletes foot in which open wounds developed remaining constantly bare and painful. No commercial powder or spray had an effect. One day mom was getting her nails done by an asian woman. Somehow the subject came up and she told my mom to bring me in. It was odd. We walked in to a nail shop and the lady demanded i remove my shoe and sock. I looked around and everyone acted as if nothing was out of the ordinary. As soon as she saw my foot, she told my mom to go buy “Mung” beans, boil them and make a paste from the boiled beans. Then load up a sheet of tin foil and wrap it around your foot, making sure to cover the infected area. The next day, it was healing and within a week it was gone after using the bean tincture twice.

wow what a great idea! I never thought of trying to make an anti fungal power…it makes sense that this would work because it keeps the feet dry while killing the fungus.
