Healing Yourself Naturally Dream Pillow Recipe

1 cup mugwort
1/2 cup rose petals
1/2 cup sweet hops
1/3 cup lavender buds
1/3 cup crushed catnip
1/4 cup valerian
1/4 cup peppermint
10 drops lavendar essential oil
5 drops myrrh essential oil

Directions

  • Make cloth bags from 6 x 12″ piece of material
  • In a bowl mix all ingredients together
  • Add essential oils
  • Mix until blended
  • Using a funnel fill bags with your mixture
  • Sew the bags shut or use velcro to seal (I prefer velcro since I can refresh the herbs.)

How To Increase Your Dream Pillows Life

Keep your dream pillow sealed in a storage container when not in use. I don’t use too much plastic in our house but I do store my herbs in glass ball mason jars and my dream pillows are stored in pyrex glass storage containers. When I converted to glass I initially was concerned about glass dishes around my toddler. I haven’t had a broken glass yet. :-)

WOW! Great info!!! Thanks! I am familiar with most of the ingredients but not the following:
    Sweet Hops
    &
    Valerian

I will google search them tonight…thanks for the education! ;)

I have a dream pillow I bought a while back. It has only half of these ingredients. It doubles as a neck pain relief and you can warm them in the microwave OR put them in the freezer and make them a cold press.

    Andree’,
I love your name. Hmm, I don’t think I’ve seen just the cloth bag shell. I’ll hunt around and see if I can find any online.

    Harmonia,
Hops is used in beer it’s also very relaxing. I’ve made a tea out of it. It has a slightly bitter taste. Pick some up for your cats while you are at it. My cats used to like that even better than catnip. ;-) It sounds like your pillow had rice or buckwheat in it. I’ve made those type before. They are great! :-)

    TTLove218,
I’m working on the store part of this site this weekend. I’m also picking up fabric for the pillows. I’ll be posting information about the store and pillows hopefully towards the end of next week.

Hi! I discovered your wonderful site from Technorati.com. I am confused about the use of the sleep pillow: is this for folks who are having trouble sleeping? And how BIG should this pillow be?

  7. Opal Tribble on November 10th, 2007 7:56 am

    Hi Kim,

The pillows are tiny. I’ll see if I can hunt for a picture and update this post. They are also called dream pillows. The herbs inside are great for relaxation which can in sleeping. I used to have a lot of problems sleeping and I know these have been very effective.
My apologies for the confusion. This post should be updated by tomorrow.

    Thanks for stopping by, :-)
