Natural Remedies For Large Pores
August 23, 2007

When I was pregnant with my daughter I developed large pores in the Tzone area of my face. The sebaceous glands were going haywire which caused a large amount of sebum to be forced through my pores.
What Are Pores?
Pores are tiny openings in the skin. It’s the entry point of hair follicles, sweat glands, and oil glands. Sebum reaches our skin through our pores. Occasionally our pores become clogged which will lead to the excessive secretion of sebum. Your pores might not be enlarged they just might be clogged with oil (sebum) which can give the impression of large pores.
How To Prevent Enlarged Pores
- Use a homemade cleanser or natural face mask to reduce oily skin
- Use a quality skin toner this will help remove oil from the skin and aid in shrinking pores.
- Cleanse skin often to reduce surface oil
Healing Yourself Naturally’s Home Remedies For Reducing Large Pores
- Tomato juice - Apply tomato juice to the skin regularly (twice daily) keep on for 20 minutes. (this seems to help in reducing the size of the pores)
- Papaya - Apply mashed papaya to the skin leave on for about twenty minutes rinse well
- Baking Soda - Mix 2 tbsp of baking soda with enough water to make a paste lightly exfoliate the skin.
- Sugar Scrubs
- Natural skin toners
There are numerous homemade remedies that seem to be effective in reducing pore size; however, I thought I would focus on the ones that I’ve used consistently.
These natural remedies were extremely effective when it came to eliminating my enlarged pores. As you get older, your pores might become larger. I regularly use homemade skin toners on my skin. This helps to tighten those pores.
I’m hoping, the natural remedies I’ve mentioned above will be an effective way for you to reduce your large pores naturally.
Enjoy!

I had been looking for something like this just last week. Thanks for the info!
Thanks for this tip. I’ve been wanting to try something natural to help minimize the appearance of large pores.
A couple of weeks ago I went to the spa to get a much needed facial. That’s the last time I will be seeing that technician. She pressed my face down so hard, that tears started streaming down my face! I don’t know if it’s b/c I haven’t been in a while why she said there were so many, but it hurt like heck! The times that I went before last, it didn’t hurt nearly as much.
I’ll try your tips and let you know how it goes.
TTLove218,
You’re welcome!
LisaC,
That sounds very painful. How did she press down on your face? Did she use her fingers?
Opal, I’m not sure what tool is used in the aid of pressing/squeezing out the oil from your pores, but it was used on me before by others and did not hurt as bad.
I would like to try a Sugar Scrub. What’s a good one to use?
Lisa,
I guess it is obvious I’ve never had a facial, lol. Well at least I’ve never gone out to get them done. I always do them myself.
I’m posting a few exfoliants later this week and sugar scrubs happen to be on the list.
Thanks!! I’ll keep my eyes opened for the post!
Lisa,
I finally included one of the recipes. It’s the first part of my series on exfoliation. You can always include D on this. If you want a more masculine scent you can add rosewood. I love the smell and use it myself.
