Ticks ~ Natural Repellents
May 30, 2007

During the summer months I use alternative remedies for keeping the blood sucking creatures at bay. Since we spend a great deal of time outdoors I make sure I keep I and my daughter covered and nyself with a natural repellent.
We both eat much garlic, but I kick it up a notch by adding the essential oils rose geranium, lavender to the mix.
I hadn’t started using it regularly yet but I will now. While I was bathing , Aiyana (my daughter) I found a tick on her. I’m not surprised she spends most of her day outside playing and of course I’m right there with her playing and working, working and playing.
I bathed the affected area and applied lavender oil mixed with a small amount of Shea butter. You can apply it to the affected skin I’ll write about some of the herbs and essential oils that I use that are as effective as Off or similar products but the remedies I use don’t have the potentially harmful side effects.
Aiyana just turned four years old so I want to use the gentlest & most effective remedy for her.
I’m a business owner and create & sell natural skin & beauty products however I’ll be sharing some of the recipes I use in my products here I hope you enjoy them.
I haven’ t had the time to devote to this website as I would like but that is changing. I see this website as being a review/weekly journal of the various remedies you’ll find in our holistic pantry.
You might be surprised to find that you already have many of these natural healers in your own pantry, and you might welcome a few more into your home so sit back, relax, and open your minds and explore an alternative approach to healing from outside & within.

[...] I’ve blogged about ticks (yes the type that feast on you) and Memorial Day eats yes I made those grilled vegetables. [...]
I haven’t found any ticks as of yet…we usually find several so I would love to know about your recipes and your products. I usually just go to the store and buy whatever but I have really been wanting to go “more natural”…maybe this would be a good place for me to start…
Hi Jenny!
I’ll be posting a few alternative remedies over the next few days. They don’t like garlic, Citronella, cedar, and eucalyptus. The majority of the blends I make are water based but if I’m going to be outside I usually add oil or vegetable based glycerine.
